WOW !!! Even the cost value of scrap has gone up with the times. I remember it as $30.00 a ton here in San Diego CA. Report Abuse
In my municipality, you have to pay $10 to have it hauled off. It is classified as ';white goods';, very hard to recycle. There isn't much if any aluminum and the steel is hard to separate from the rest of the junk. The most valuable part might be the copper in the motor. Remove that and it might be worth a few cents.
Diddly-squat.
Back when I worked in the scrap yard, scrap iron went for a penny a pound.
MOst of the time you have to pay to get rid of them. Unless tyou are willing to break it down into components.
