Is there a trap on the washer and dryer?

I accidently put a top in the washer with a tennis bracelet and a necklace in the pocket. By the time I realized what I had done, I was taking the clothes out of the dryer. We have a GE washer and a Kenmore dryer. A guy I know said GE does not normally put a trap on their washers, but I am hoping he is wrong. The pipes to drain the washer are all over the place in the basement, they go up and down and turn corners. If there is no trap, is it possible the jewelry got stuck somewhere in the pipes? If they made it into the dryer, where should I look for them? The lint trap is one of the ones where you pull the thing out of the top, so I can't even see the bottom of the trap it I sit on top of the dryer and use a flashlight. Please help. Thanks. Is there a trap on the washer and dryer?
The washer won't have a trap... but a bracelet would not normally pass out of the tubs. There is a chance of it laying in the bottom of the outer tub...

Most jewelry makes it into the dryer. (under the drum)

The jewlry ends up in the ductwork near the fan.. or in the bottom of the dryer.

I was working on a dryer repair and found a woman's engagement ring that she had been missing for over 3 years...

Amazing what stuff you find when you open up a dryer to work on it.Is there a trap on the washer and dryer?
agitator comes out... then a strange nut.. then the perforated tub lifts out. (may have to remove the case from the machine... or just get the top up)

Should be pieces of socks between tubs... Washers eat socks Report Abuse

Most washers and dryers have a trapper in them. It is mainly in the front or down below and to the left of the tumbler. It is oblong shaped - usually you can ope it and unscrew the cap and take out the offending piece. Replace the cap and close the shutter - everything should be fine.

If however, there is nothing there - then it is still in the tumbler - check all holes to see in there and nothing is blocked.
did you look on the bottom of the washer and dryer? i did that once, and it didnt go thru the pipes.....
