I have a sheet caught under the rotating piece in the middle of my washing machine. I can't seem to force it out, so I was hoping to remove the piece so I can take the sheet out. Any ideas how to do it?
The model is GE Six Cycle Washer - Heavy Duty Large Capacity Washing Machine. How do I remove a sheet caught under rotating unit of GE Heavy Duty Washer?
At the top of the agitator is a cap. Under it is a nut. Loosen the nut and pull up the agitator. How do I remove a sheet caught under rotating unit of GE Heavy Duty Washer?
If you can find the booklet that came with your washer, there is an
800 phone number for GE customer service. If you call that number, they can give you information about removing the agitator in the center of your machine. Otherwise, call a GE parts department near where you live.
Generally they life off the center post, and that should free the sheet that is caught underneath.
Steve is 99% correct. If not there will be two indentations three or four inches down from the top of the rotating piece. push them in and the unit will pull up.

I need to get ';rid'; of an old washer and dryer. Who could I contact to remove them from my home?
I am 84 years old and can not afford to pay someone very much. Would someone take them for scrap metal? They are not in working
order and I am selling my house so they need to go....I need to get ';rid'; of an old washer and dryer. Who could I contact to remove them from my home?
Yes! Metal is of high value right now. If you scrap them you will be paid for the weight of the metal. Call several junk yard dealers and inquire. Also, if you can open the fronts of the machines and get into the base of them, you might be likely to find some change. Our old washer had $15 worth of coins hidden in it when we scraped it!
pI need to get ';rid'; of an old washer and dryer. Who could I contact to remove them from my home?
call your local appliance dealer (sears comes to mind). usually they'll take them away for a small fee. those appliances aren't something you can leave out for public trash to remove due to the motor components, they have to be ';recycled';.
call local appliance dealers.
Lots of dealers rebuild the used units and resell them as refurbished, and would be more than happy to remove them from your house for FREE!
It wont take long either. I bet the first or second place you call will agree to come get them for you!
There are junk dealers that will take these things. If you want to trust me, tell me what town you live in and I will search for you and email the list to you.
Try the DAV (Disabled American Veterans). They take appliances, working or not.
Call your trash collection agency and they may set up a date for you to put them out to be picked up, for a fee of course.
eat them
put it on craigslist. It should probably last... maybe 30 minutes?

Another question on Disk/Washers in Calculus?
Consider the solid obtained by rotating the region bounded by the given curves about the line y=6.
y=3e^-x, y=3, x=4
Find the volume.Another question on Disk/Washers in Calculus?
Sketch the region! You have a horizontal line through y=3 beginning at 0 (solve 3=3e^-x). You have a vertical line through x=4 which intersects at (4, 3e^-4) and you have a line through y = 6.
Your shell is sitting on the y-axis radius (6-y), height x and thickness dy.
So your integral will be 2pi integral (6-y)x dy. This is difficult because you have to solve x in terms of y: ln function!
If you use disks you will have radius 6-y and thickness dx for x=0 to x=4. When you are done you will have to subtract the cylinder with radius (6-3) and height 4.
pi integral (6-3e^-x)^2 dx from 0 to 4. Expand makes it easier and integrate each term!

Can windshield washer be used in house water pipes to keep from freezing?
My mother passed away and the heat to the house is shut off. I was told I could use windshield washer to put in water pipes, drains to keep them from freezing after water has been shut off and pipes drained (no air compressor). I was told not to use RV antifreeze. This is what I have done and now I am worried as to whether this was the right thing to do. The house is old and not insulated. Can windshield washer be used in house water pipes to keep from freezing?
You definitely need antifreeze in there, so it can get into drain traps and low points in your pipes. There is antifreeze made especially for this purpose, which is different from RV antifreeze, and different from windshield washer. It's pink in color, and of course I have no idea whether you can get it wherever you are. Its primary virtue as compared to car antifreeze is that it doesn't play hell on the environment when you drain it out. As far as using windshield washer... I'd say if where you are has fairly moderate winters that might be OK, but I sure as hell wouldn't try it here in Maine... Make sure to break all couplings connecting pressure tanks to pipes and pipes to your water pump, and be sure to drain out the pump itself, both from the draining ball valve at the rear and by removing the plug from the bottom. When you antifreeze the toilets, make sure to continue pouring into the bowls until the level starts to fill, and then drops. This will show you when the antifreeze has reached the trap below. Wherever you have ball valves at the disconnected couplings get a little antifreeze in there too and work the valve back and forth. Don't forget the water heater. You usually have to tip it around some to get the last of the water out. Best of luck. Can windshield washer be used in house water pipes to keep from freezing?
Maybe I'm missing something here, but if you drained your pipes there's nothing inside to freeze. Also, I don't know how you'd get antifreeze or anything else to circulate through your supply pipes anyway.
As for drain traps and toilets, I've heard that RV anti-freeze is the stuff to use because it is not regarded as toxic. It is different stuff than standard automotive antifreeze.
no.
keep the heat on the minimal setting.
do not try the anti freeze you will be cited by the environmental people.
even if you need electric heaters to keep it from a freeze.
RV antifreeze is the best thing you can use in the pipes.Windshield washer solvent can be toxic and RV antifreeze is not.
windshield washer fluid will not do any good and you definitely can not put it in the water lines because it might be toxic. The RV antifreeze was exactly what you wanted to use
The RV antifreeze that is certified for potable drinking water systems will work fine.

My dish washer wont drain completely , what are the potential reasons for this?
My dish washer wont drain completely , what are the potential reasons for this? I have tried running a cycle with drain cleaner, but that did not fix it.My dish washer wont drain completely , what are the potential reasons for this?
It is clogged with old food not completely washed from the plates. Remove all dishes and use a strong plumbing detergent (not lye), which should remove the cloggage. Afterwards, run it empty to wash away all harmful chemicals, and it should work fine.My dish washer wont drain completely , what are the potential reasons for this?
The drain hose may not have the proper loop in it and thus water is just sitting there as water seeks its own level. Also try filling up the sink with water and then letting it down (warm water is fine) and see if you have a decent vortex this will let you know if the drain is clear or needs to be water Jetted
It might be that the drain pipe has dropped and doesn't go higher than the level where it attaches to the sink drain. Try hooking it up as high as you can under the sink, kind of like a p-trap.
there could be food particles that the drain cleaner might not eat up as its trying to do its job...that or a dish/utensil
you should have a plumber come out and look at it....or if you recently bought your appliance from Lowe's or Home Depot...check and see if the warranty is still good...
good luck!
there is a strainer in the bottom of the washer clean it and try rinsing dishes better before you put them in, good luck.
its plugged up just as any drain would be when it has so much stuff tossed down it..

I am not sure of the name of the part, but the device that clicks when lower the lid of my washer no longer functions (thank goodness that's the problem instead of something more expensive). Is it possibly to connect a washer/dryer in an apartment that doesn't have a washer dryer connection?
The landlord tricked us by showing us one apartment, but provided keys to a totally different one. The unit we have the keys for does not have a washer dryer connection so I was wondering if it was still possible to connect the machines??Is it possibly to connect a washer/dryer in an apartment that doesn't have a washer dryer connection?
No , you are F#CKED . Landlord is a scumbag .Is it possibly to connect a washer/dryer in an apartment that doesn't have a washer dryer connection?
not the standard w/d you must have the elect. connection for the dryer and a sink style hook up enabled washer usually only the mini w/d work for the apartment .Sorry Hope you get it worked out.WS
NO. You need venting to the outside for the dryer and a 220 outlet. For the washer, you need hot and cold water into the machine and a drain for the machine. It is virtually impossible to do without knocking down walls and installing extra plumbing.

Is it a bad idea to build a house w/hot water heater, furnace, washer, & dryer on upper floor near bedrooms?
We're looking at a house with this plan and are not comfortable with it. Does anyone have this in their home. Would you consider it a good or bad idea?Is it a bad idea to build a house w/hot water heater, furnace, washer, %26amp; dryer on upper floor near bedrooms?
I would LOVE to have my laundry upstairs. Not sure about the furnace and water heater though. They make a catch tray that can go underneath a washer, in case of any leakage. You would pretty much have a disaster if your hot water tank crapped out though. Is it a bad idea to build a house w/hot water heater, furnace, washer, %26amp; dryer on upper floor near bedrooms?
It makes no difference where these items are placed, attic or basement.
I might be more interested in the noise level when they are operating.
Your suspicions are correct. 95% of the population will have the same negative concerns with this unorthadox layout. Avoid this home unless you are prepared to sit on it for a long period of time during the event of a resale.
Do's and Don'ts.
- Hot water tanks belong in basements, or lowest floor unless home is over 3000 Square feet per floor, in which a 2nd hot water heater upstairs will distribute hot water faster.
Although unlikely, any leaks the tank may develop will do serious damage.
- Never place a furnace on an upper floor, especially near bedrooms. The noise will be a factor both near the bedrooms and in the floors below the furnace.
Simple math states heat rises - and is best coming from the coldest (lowest) point in the home.
- A plus in any home is a main floor laundry room, which is what we have. An upper laundry room is nice, but not totally necessary, unless the home is very large.
In Vegas and, other Southwestern cities where they don't have basements they have the furnaces in the attics, or on the roof, the second floor. They have the hot water heater in the Garage. I can't say I'd like the kitchen in the second floor and have never in 47 years of building and selling, property management, have seen it.
That would mean a lot of running up and down the stairs for the wife, would she like that? would be the question. I think when you went to resell, you'd wait forever, I wouldn't even try and sell this house. It would be discounted real bad for you.
We had a house with the bedrooms upstairs, next to the kitchen! Yes ,the kitchen was on the top floor, and I thought that was rather strange! But it worked out fine. Byee
I do not see anything particularly wrong with this. In fact, except for the kitchen all your hot water use will be around the bathrooms anyway. Furnaces in attics are not uncommon either.
The question is Why wouldn't you? The most laundry is used near those rooms, and it doesn't really matter where your w%26amp;d and hot water heater are.
I AM NOT A BIG FAN OF THIS ALSO. HOWEVER A LOT OF NEW HOMES DO HAVE THE LAUNDRY ROOM NEAR THE BEDROOMS SO YOU NEED NOT TO LUG CLOTHES UP AND DOWN STAIRS. MAKE SURE THERE ARE PANS AND DRAIN ALARMS UNDER THE WASHER AND HOT WATER TANK AND BE SURE THEY ARE PIPED TO A DRAIN! (SOME TANKS WILL LEAK SLOWLY BUT IF A LARGE LEAK! EXPECT DAMAGE!)
A HOT AIR FURNACE IS NO PROBLEM. BUT A HOT WATER BOILER FOR HEAT! WALK AWAY

Can I put my bathroom carpet in the washer and dryer to clean it?
My rug has rubber on the bottom so I am unsure if I can put this in the dryer. If not, how can I clean it effectively?
Thank you!Can I put my bathroom carpet in the washer and dryer to clean it?
If the carpet is synthetic - yes (nylon, polyester, olefin, polypropylene)
Do NOT put in the dryer. There is a good change the high heat will cause the rubber to come off. There is also a good chance that heavy agitation can damage it too so put the setting to delicate on the washer.
Good Luck! Can I put my bathroom carpet in the washer and dryer to clean it?
Washer, yes. Dryer, no. Let it dry by hanging it over the shower rail or a towel rack.
yes you can!
I plan to put mine through the washer, but I'm going to let it air dry. Drape it over a couple of chairs or something.
I think it will depend on the type of carpet

Would it be okay to take a pressure washer to a dirty concrete basement floor for cleaning?
Yes, it has a drain.Would it be okay to take a pressure washer to a dirty concrete basement floor for cleaning?
No there is nothing wrong with that. Then put some fans down there to dry it.Would it be okay to take a pressure washer to a dirty concrete basement floor for cleaning?
I would be very concerned about mold. Black mold to be specific. A basement is the perfect environment for black mold ant it can kill very fast. Don't mess around with the possibility of black mold. Get a pro to clean it, they will know what to do and how to get all of the moisture up and dried off completely. I would also consider sealing the floor once it is cleaned. It will make future cleaning much easier. I sealed my aunts floor with her last year and they love it. They never have to worry about wet spots, grease stains and stuff. Comes right off with water.
eh, i would say that putting alot of water into a concrete basement is never a good idea. seek out industrial cleaners from your local hardware store, make sure the basement is as well ventilated as possible and try a really small area before dumping the cleaner all over the place. i would start there before bring down the force of niagra falls on your basement.

Brand new washer ties clothes in knots?
I have tried everything, laying them unfolded, neatly arranged, not too many so its not over stuffed, nothing works. They just come out all twisted together - the arms of shirts with the legs of pants, etc, I can't even pull the clothes out they are in such a twisted up mess...it's driving me nuts! What is the problem?? This washer cost me $500 bucks!!!! This has happened before, so the washer is not ';defective';, I just can't figure it out.Brand new washer ties clothes in knots?
Try it on a different setting - like instead of normal wash, use the delicate setting and it should agitate slower.
You may need to practically fill it up instead of leaving it mostly empty. That may be one solution.Brand new washer ties clothes in knots?
It's always important to ';read the directions, even if you don't follow them';. (User Guide)
An additional tip would be while loading the washer, put each piece of clothing in the washer individually, in a loose wad (or ball). Be sure not to ';wrap'; them around the agitator. I've had that happen b4 also, It's very irritating.
If this doesn't work, call the manufacturer's customer support line, which will normally be found-you guessed it- in the User's Guide. :)
Good Luck
try changing the setting to one for delicate's or one that is gentler than the one you are using. It sounds like the setting you are using is very aggressive.... which isn't bad if you have stains in denim however; this will wear your clothes out faster.
Return it and get a side load washer. The agitator in top load washers twist everything and damage your clothes. Side load washers clean a lot better too!
Good Luck
You should read the manual or call the person who sold this to you and ask them why is it doing this.
Use a gentler cycle that doesn't aggitate and spin so quickly.
Just a though, have you tried a gentler cycle? Would that help?

Water use for clothes washers?
I can't find comparisions for water use for clothes washers - they say front loaders use less - OK but which front loaders use the least and wash the bestWater use for clothes washers?
We had the GE front load washer and dryer at my parents house and it does use less water, but we didnt think that it cleaned nearly as well as a traditional washer. They have also broken down about 5 times since they've had them. The repairman told us that we needed to run a bleach cycle every month to clean it...and the clothes just don't smell as clean when they come out of the wash. They're nice and easier to load, but we had problems with them and the whole not smelling clean was a problem too.Water use for clothes washers?
If you ask at the store they should be able to help you, or maybe check out consumer reports.com. That might help. I have an LG and it uses something like 15 gallops per wash, which is way less that my top loading machine I had.( I believe it was closer to 40 something.
1) GE, WJRE5500WW rated the best for its high efficiency w/ esp. $ 500. My sister owns it, and I highly recommend it as well personally.

How do you plumb in a washer with cold water only?
We are moving to a new house and where the plumbing is for the washing machine there is only a cold water pipe, how will this work with plumbing in a washer. How do you plumb in a washer with cold water only?
Use a Y-connector.
Don鈥檛 do as others have suggested!!!
You MUST connect both the hot and cold inlets to the cold water supply.
That way you can select a hot wash and it will fill with cold water.
The washing machine will then HEAT the COLD water.
By capping the hot inlet you will not be able to start the machine on a hot wash as it will NOT fill!
You must use two pipes. Hot and cold. Just feed them both from the COLD water supply using the Y-connector.

wash machines do not have heaters to heat water Report Abuse
You can buy an adaptor shaped like a letter ';Y'; on which you connect both the pipes from the machine to the ';V'; and then connect the cold pipe to the '; I ';. A dealer once told me it seems illogical to heat up water in the hot water system then put it into a cold machine to heat it up again.
I always use only a cold water supply for that reason.
you simply connect the washer to the cold supply leaving the hot water connection on your washer blocked off with a cap.
Mine is both hot and cold but I never use the hot washing in cold water only. the hot tap is turned off. Works fine , no problems. Your washer will have a cold cycle only selection on it I'm sure
Lizzee %26amp; John are correct. All you need to do is cap off the hot. A y connector is not necessary. However if you have an electronic front load it requires an actual hot water connection. It has temp. sensors not just temp selectors.
seal off the other connector point at the back of your machine. you can buy the seal from any hardware shop for about 1.50.
I have never seen a clothes washer that heats water.
You can do it either of the ways suggested.
y- connection is correct never seen any water heater built in to washer?

Which washer and dryer are the best?
I'm buying my first washer and dryer ever and have never had to compare features....I have NO CLUE :) What are the most import items? Has anyone used the new BRAVOS by Maytag that doesn't have an agitator? What do you think of it?Which washer and dryer are the best?
I'll vote on front load too. Whirlpool is the most reliable brand. Maytags break down a lot. Your local library should have a Consumer's Report Buyers Guide in the reference section that reviews different brands and models and rates which ones are the best. You could check their online site but it's only available by subscription that you pay for.Which washer and dryer are the best?
Whirlpool Duets are an excellent choice. Not only do front loaders wash more clothes, they also save water and are energy efficient.
Front load washers they hold tons of stuff and clean well too.
Make sure the dryer you get can keep up with the washer. I just saw on TV today some new steam washer, hmm sounds interesting, I think it would be worth checking out.

My washer has mold in it somewhere. How do I get it out?
I moved into a new apartment a few months ago, and I think the washer has mold in it. I can't see any, but it smells terrible, maybe like mildew or something. Is there any bleach or chemical I can run through it to clean it out? I can't even stand shutting the windows in the laundry room, the smell is so strong...My washer has mold in it somewhere. How do I get it out?
fill the washer all the way to the top with warm to hot water, pour in about 2 cups of bleach, let it run though the cycle, then open the lid and let it dry out, shutting the lid just helps the mold grow. If it still smells like that run it though again. My washer has mold in it somewhere. How do I get it out?
weird. maybe a small animal (like a mouse) crawled up in a pipe or something...that happened to a friend of mine in her dryer, or maybe it was her heater-something-or-other... you should have a professional come and look at it because mold in a washer is very strange indeed.
Run it through its cycle with a couple of cups of bleach in it. When it fills to rinse add a couple of cups of vinegar.
This may have to be done a couple of times- depending how bad it is. You may even try adding some salt to the water (a mild abrasive)
When its all clean remember to always leave the lid open when its not in use.
You purchase Caustic Soda(watch your hands), and mix with hot water, and flush it through washer. If you fill bowl with say a gallon of hot water, plus two large tablespoons of the soda, and put it on wash cycle, it should flush through.Good Luck!
try just filling it up with your detergent and bleach and letting it run empty

On 1968 chevy 3/4 ton rearend does the axles hold in by half moon washers to help keep from coming out of hub?
when i changed bearings and seals on 3/4 ton rear end when i unscrewed axle keepers the axle slid out .is there half moon keepers in pumpkin? On 1968 chevy 3/4 ton rearend does the axles hold in by half moon washers to help keep from coming out of hub?
3/4 ton axles don't use the half moon keepers--the axles are held in out by the bearings by retainers...easier to replace an axle on those models.

Acid.. Local hardware store will Have.
Dont beath the Fumes
I would try the muric acid, a stiff floor broom and elbow grease. Then you can pressure wash.
Although a girlfriend of mine used tide with bleach on her garage floor. She put a layer of lightly dampened tide, scrubbed it in, let it set and hosed it off. In your case I would pressure wash it off. Its worthatry! Good luck.
They sell Muratic acid and other concrete cleaners at home improvement stores, they work great.

Are you happy with your front loading washer & dryer?
I want to buy those new fabulous front loading washer %26amp; dryers.
Are they worth the money? I do laundry pretty much every day - so my washer %26amp; dryer are very important to me.Are you happy with your front loading washer %26amp; dryer?
I love them! My husband and I got a Whirlpool Duet front loading washer and dryer a couple of months ago and we immediately noticed a drop in our water bill by about $10.
The washer is so quiet, you wouldn't even know it was on until the spin cycle and even then it's not very loud. The dryer has an optional Wrinkle Shield that will tumble your clothes for a few more minutes after the cycle has ended if you're not able to get the clothes out immediately. We tested that 'mode' and it literally kept going like that for hours--I'm sure it would've continued all night had we not stopped it!
My only complaint is that the wash cycles can take 3 times as long as the dry cycles, depending on what type of cycle you choose (i.e. Sanitary Cycle = 3 hours).
Other than that though, they're a great combo. You have to buy special detergent (HE) that's about $10-12 per bottle, but you get 65 loads out of it, so even the detergent's worth it.
All in all, I say, GO FOR IT!!! :o%26gt;Are you happy with your front loading washer %26amp; dryer?
Yes - we bought a front loader from Sears (Kenmore) three years ago based on Consumer Reports research.
The washer is much gentler on clothes than a traditional top loader - the clothes don't get tangled and stretched by the thing in the middle.
The dryer is the same as a normal dryer - ours runs hot so we only use the lowest setting.
And, its stackable - which is important in a condo.
I would recommend the ';pedestal'; attachment - the bending over to load/unload gets tired!
I am quite happy with mine! I have a Maytag Neptune washer and I just got a GE Stainless Steel Drum electric dryer. I usually don't get too worked up about a dryer but this one I REALLY like! It actually handles the large loads that the Neptune can wash! That's probably the biggest thing, make sure the dryer is as big as the washer!
I really like mine. I got mine in October of last year, and just love them. Will never buy another top loader again. My clothes from the washer come out cleaner, I save on laundry detergent, because you use less of it, then before. I can go on and on, but in one word to your question ';Yes';.
Yes. always had a front loading.powder foundation

Can I get money by selling a washer/dryer for scrap metal?
I have several old washer/dryers and fridge and want to get some money out of themCan I get money by selling a washer/dryer for scrap metal?
Take the copper out of them first, and make two sales to the scrap yard. One for the copper and one for scrap metal. Can I get money by selling a washer/dryer for scrap metal?
If anything still runs you can get more money for it selling it used than selling it for scrap.
Yes you can look in your yellow page book.Right now they are paying big money for scrap metal.
the washers/dryers can be sold. the fridge has to have the refrigerant taken out. most junk yard will not buy fridges, instead, they charge you a fee to take them
Yes actually you can, check the phone book. It should be under metals. On the fridge you will have to take the compressor off, or they will not take it. Here there isn't a fee for taking such, they pay you.

How do i stack an older Frigidaire washer and dryer that doesn't use the stacking kit?
It has a set of metal clips that came attached to the washing machine. How do i stack an older Frigidaire washer and dryer that doesn't use the stacking kit?
I gather it's a front-loading washing machine!
A friend and I did this recently, but we didn't stack the machines directly. We stuck the washer in a corner, built a shelf just above it, and put the dryer on that (with a REALLY GOOD CORNER SUPPORT on the shelf!). It's a bit crude but solved the space problem. How do i stack an older Frigidaire washer and dryer that doesn't use the stacking kit?
The machine came with the kit for a reason. Don't try to be clever. You have to worry about balance, weight etc.I have a unit that was made to stack and I left off one part of it...you would not believe the racket, until I did it properly.
make the shelf
You wouldn't want to see mine because it wouldn't be pretty. It would be a 2x4 or 4x4 frame fitting over the washer that is screwed into the studs of the wall behind the washer.

Power consumption and cost of operation for washer/drier?
What's the average cost for one usage for the washing machine or drier due to power consumption?Power consumption and cost of operation for washer/drier?
Next to what you spend on Heating or Cooling your Home (depending on WHERE you live in the Country), your Washer %26amp; Drier consumes the MOST electricity of all your Appliances (the Drier- MORE than the Washer). Of course, a LOT depends on how Old they are %26amp; how often you use them... But if you're like MOST people... -You use them often enough to jack up your Electric Bill- PRETTY good, every month. So if you're REALLY serious about cutting back on your Homes Energy Bill, you'd dry your Clothes on an old-fashion clothes line when you can- %26amp; save yourself a few bucks!!! :)Power consumption and cost of operation for washer/drier?

How much noise can you hear through thin condo walls from a small washer?
I bought a small portable washer that doesn't seem to make that much noise. I don't think downstairs can hear because the machine doesn't shake or vibrate (as I also have a foam pad to muffle the floor). Now I wonder if the people next door and above me can hear when the hum of the washer starts during the wash. The spinning makes a little whirling that we consider a little loud. Anyone know or have neighbors with washer and they can hear through their thin walls? The washer's a secret, since none is allowed, we can't straight out ask our neighbors. I pay high HOA and conserve water, so I think having a tiny washer is not that big of a sin. Thanks! How much noise can you hear through thin condo walls from a small washer?
Low frequencies pass through the walls most easily, so you're probably okay as long as the washer doesn't go out of balance on the spin cycle.
How well your condo is soundproofed is hard to say, but if you cannot easily hear people walking, doors closing, musical bass notes (i.e. low frequency sounds), then your washer may go unnoticed. Unless of course it leaks or overflows (about the only reason I could understand for the rule), then the landlord may get involved if the ceiling downstairs starts dripping or falls.

Does fabric softener you use in the washer help to dry clothing more quickly?
I want to start air drying rather than using the dryer so much, but I don't want my clothing to start growing things as it dries :-)Does fabric softener you use in the washer help to dry clothing more quickly?
fabric softener is for clothes that are to be hung outside to dry. It is kind of like a liquid dryer sheet. it helps your clothes from becoming stiff and staticy. plus it smells nice, but that is it. Don't leave you clothes out in the rain, and things wont start growing in them. Also, after you take your clothes off the line from outside they will feel stiff no matter what, throw them in the dryer on low heat for about 5-10 minutes (depends on type of clothes and amount) this will get the stiffness out.Does fabric softener you use in the washer help to dry clothing more quickly?
The lower the humidity in the air the faster your items will dry. When I had a place to line dry I used to in the fall and spring. Where I live the humidity is high most of the summer so I usually used the dryer.
As the others said. Remove the items when it is raining and check on them regularly. I never left anything on the line overnight so dew wasn't an issue for me.
It won't grow things as it dries, silly. Unless you leave the clothes in a mildew ridden basement for a week. If you have a high humidity location you're planning on drying the clothes in, then they will take a long time. However, if the air around you is very dry, then your clothes will dry quickly.
...AND softeners tend to leave a waxy deposit in the fabrics. They will severely reduce the absorbency in towels, bathrobes, teatowels, etc. Air dry these without softeners and toss them in the dryer for a few minutes just to soften them up a bit.

Ok Do you think buying this compact washer and dryer is worth it?

I live in a small apartment I think they are the cutest things but I'm still shopping around.Ok Do you think buying this compact washer and dryer is worth it?
if this is your only option because of size constraints, i would be very tempted to try it. we have 2 more little ones than you but some weeks my wife lives in front of the washing machine. when you calculate the money spent each week at a commercial laundromat, in a years time it can add up to a lot. you also have to consider the gas spent traveling back and forth. as a working mother the convenience and time saved are also major issues. the only concern i would have is durability. this unit doesn't have the capacity of a larger commercial machine, this means that you will have to run more loads per week through it.
i would do the math and factor in time saved and the convenience. but if you decide to do it, i would look into purchasing a ';extended warranty'; just to be on the safe side....good luck.
james p: '; I'm not an appliance sales specialist'; and i can tell by looking that this washer is a top loader.Ok Do you think buying this compact washer and dryer is worth it?
if the washer and dryer are high efficiency machines meaning the washer is loaded from the front and not the top then it is worth it..you will use about 70% less water your clothes will come out cleaner and last longer, and they have about the same size capacity as a full size top loading machine about 3.1-3.2cf
If you can squeeze it in, I would recommend a front loader with the dryer stacked on top. I just purchased a front loader and it is amazing. The laundry is cleaner and a full load of towels is wrung out so well, that it only takes 30 to 35 minutes to dry. Twin size comforters are dry in 20. If you don't have the laundry hook-ups though, then the models you are looking at may be your best option.
that is really expensive and you'll never get what you bought them for .if you plan on living in your apartment for 2 years or more and have to use laundry mats then maybe but i wouldn't buy it if it was me . plus i would ask ppl on here how well they clean your clothes .
They cost more than standard size machines and the capacity is about half or less.
If you have the space, then buy the full-size models, you'll also have more selection as well.
I'd say go for it!! A lot of the new condos my builder builds has the stackables in them and haven't heard any complaints yet. Plus you save about half in cost and electric!powder foundation

They cost more than standard size machines and the capacity is about half or less.
If you have the space, then buy the full-size models, you'll also have more selection as well.
I'd say go for it!! A lot of the new condos my builder builds has the stackables in them and haven't heard any complaints yet. Plus you save about half in cost and electric!
If you washed and dried sheets with a bar of soap in the washer and dryer, how many times would they need to -?
- be washed again in order to get the soap out ?
Best way to get dried on bar soap out of the dryer? If you washed and dried sheets with a bar of soap in the washer and dryer, how many times would they need to -?
mmmmm... i'm assuming you meant a bar of soap ACCIDENTLY got in the washer and you're trying to get it out of the sheets? To get the dried bar soap out of your dryer, Try washing a load of rags, towels ( other than bath towels, rugs, and then throwing it in the dryer. That should help get the bar soap out of the dryer. As for the sheets? I'd just throw them back in the washer ( you don't need any soap) wash them in hot water, the longest wash cycle on your washer, and do an extra rinse if you have that option. If you washed and dried sheets with a bar of soap in the washer and dryer, how many times would they need to -?
Probably one time as long as you do not over load the washer.
To get the dried on bar soap out of the dryer. You can use water and an old rag and keep rubbing until the soap has dissolved. Or you could use the edge of a putty knife/razor blade to scrape it out. This may also scratch the drum if you are not careful. Water/rag will not ruin the inside of the dryer/drum.

Is there a way to test if a color will run in the washer from a shirt I plan to wash?
I don't want it to stain other clothes. Is there a way to test if a color will run in the washer from a shirt I plan to wash?
Best to set the dye by adding a cup of salt or white vinegar to the cold water rinse water the first time you launder the garment. Then, it will never bleed on to other garments. If you do the soaker test (soak it in lukewarm water) for an hour and it does shed dye, you have lightened the color of the garment anyways. Is there a way to test if a color will run in the washer from a shirt I plan to wash?
I agree with the first answer I usually wash the clothing first.
its right . soak it first in any sink to see that it gives out the colour or not .
I heard that better to wash these kinds of clothes in cold water . it reduces the risk of run out of colour.
Wash it with something white. If it does bleed rewash in some vinegar, you'll have to wash it a couple more times to get the vinegar smell out but that will seal the color in. Yes, this is what we women do all day.
Wash it by itself the first time or with another old towel or somthing you dont mind ruining.
Yes, Soak first in lukewarm water. If the dye run麓s , then wash on it麓s own. Better hand wash. I once had a shirt that said on the label , wash with similar colors, But the color came out and stained the other clothes
Add a little salt to water will not run.
pre wash in cold water first this always helps me
If your worried - don't take the risk.
Wash the shirt in cold water with some salt to set the dye.
Wash the shirt by itself when doing this.
When dye is set by this method wash with other stuff it should be ok.

If i washed oily clothes in my washer does that cause mildew?
Dampness causes mildew, not oil!
Wash twice in hottest water available and a good detergent! If i washed oily clothes in my washer does that cause mildew?
My husband likes to build motorcycles for a hobby. Believe me, I've washed some oily stuff. Just use the hot water, maybe a bit more detergent than you usually would and you are good to go. I put the oily clothes in with the others and don't ever have a prob but you may not want to do that. Sugar shouldn't be a problem washing, I cook all the time and make messes.....If i washed oily clothes in my washer does that cause mildew?
Not if you put a hot wash through. Try adding a handfull of raw sugar to the wash with hot water when doing oily clothes.
no might upset goerge if you wash mildred :)

How do you choose the right lock washer for the job?
I don't know which lock washer is the one to use...I am attaching brackets to a plastic console and I don't know which is best. Do the lock washers have to contact metal (like another flat washer)? How do you choose the right lock washer for the job?
It is better that both sides of the lock washer are in touch with a metal surface, but if it is impossible you can use a flat washer on the non-metal surface. How do you choose the right lock washer for the job?
A flat washer under a lock washer defeats the purpose. what a lock washer does is dig into the surface and the bolt to keep the bolt from spinning, if there's a flat washer in there then the flat washer turns with the bolt causing the Lock washer to be ineffective.
Lock washers will mar the plastic, But only under the washer where you cant see it.
If you're nervous use some Locktite and a flat washer.
Plastic isn't that resilient,so,I'd use a large flat washer and a nylock self locking nut.
black is right use a lock nut

Clothes washer discharge / drain hookup to sewer line?
The drain pipe leading to the sewer drain is about 3-4 feet above the washer. Can I hook up to it though it is this far above the washer?Clothes washer discharge / drain hookup to sewer line?
The manufacturer's specs vary, and you may be able to check the owners manual [or the manufacturers web site], but generally speaking, 3-4 feet is no problem. There are two things you MUST do: 1)...You must have a trap to keep out odors and pests...and...2) you MUST be sure to provide a drain pipe large enough to handle the large volume which the washer pumps puts out. The most common way to do this [and the easiest] is to use 1 1/2 '; [or even 2';] PVC pipe. You need a trap [a factory made fitting shaped like as ';S'; or a ';P';], and a length of pipe of the same diameter at least 2' long [3' to 4' is better] coming up vertically from the trap. Hook the upside down ';J'; shaped end of the washer outlet into to the top of this piece of pipe, so that the waste water comes out of the drain, into this 2-4 foot ';standpipe'; , and then runs through the trap and into your drain. You may secure the washer outlet's hooked end into this pipe with duct tape, wire, etc. if you wish, but you must not seal up the connection...the system depends on air entering the system at this point. All that being said, if your local code does not allow PVC, you should do the same with copper or steel or whatever is required. It's just more trouble and cost with other materials...the principles are the same.
One more thing...if your washers' outlet tube is not long enought to reach up to the drain pipe, purchase a short length of rubber tubing the same diameter as the washer drain which is long enough to make up the needed height. Also get two coupling fitings [usually plastic with ';barb'; fittings and screw clamps], cut the hose outlet and insert this 'extension' piece into the drain pipe so that it reaches you new standpipe/trap setup.Clothes washer discharge / drain hookup to sewer line?
The air has to be able to enter the pipe to avoid siphoning of the waste water back into your washer. The drain pipe might air vent out through the roof. Have you checked this? Report Abuse
If the entrance to the sewer line has a trap there then you can hook up your drain line from your washer. But.... the washers pump may not be capable of pumping water to that elevation. You may have to build a stand or raised platform to hold your washer a couple of feet higher and add a step up to get to it.
Good luck
The higher you try to pump water into the air, the greater the load on the pump. These pumps they put into washing machines are just not that efficient, and probably only made of plastic. You could contact the manufacturer, but I am sure he will only say it should be drained within the length of the drane hose.
if it pumps the water out of your washer, go for it. If it doesn't figure out a different way.

How can I fix my Whirlpool Calypso washer? I keep getting the ';CL'; code and have wet laundry in the tub.
There is an error code sheet hidden in the control panel. How can I fix my Whirlpool Calypso washer? I keep getting the ';CL'; code and have wet laundry in the tub.
Here is the meaning of the CA and CL codes for your washer
CA Cl Average current limit Or Instantaneous current limit If a status signal comes back from the motor controller that a current limit has been breached, the unit will return to standby mode and display either CA for average current limit trip or Cl for instantaneous current limit trip.
Average current trip occurs if there is a 2 second average of current draw greater than 5.55 amps at the motor windings.
Instantaneous current trip occurs if there is a spike of 26 amps instantly at the motor windings.
This may signify problems with the drive motor, thermal protector, or motor controller. Over-loading the unit may cause this problem.
Here is the Link to the codes for the washer and dryer.

Good Luck. How can I fix my Whirlpool Calypso washer? I keep getting the ';CL'; code and have wet laundry in the tub.
Sounds like your particular model has a sensor that tells you when the lid is completely latched or not. There may be something stuck between the shut off switch and the latch. Check this, if there is something there (a clump of soap or lint) clean it out and your machine should operate properly.
The control ';knob'; needs to be replaced. Thats the knob that you set for ';wash, spin, rinse';, etc. its very easy and inexpensive. just make sure you make note of what wire goes where...very easy for anybody.....oh, unplug it first!
Try this first. Adjust the 'output' hose behind the washer so it does not have a sharp bend in it. Turn washer spin cycle back on. Sometimes gravity puts a 'kink' in hose and water will not drain. Next culprit could be the 'dial ' may be to be replaced.
As for CL, each manual of different types have different codes and need to look it up in the manual or call manufacturer.
Well ~ I'm not familiar with the washer you describe but ';getting the CL code'; indicates, to me, there must be a clear button/switch to erase
the prior setting. If you can't find a ';clear'; then it may be something you shouldn't mess around with. There is an 800 number in the owner's manual - call them before you do anything (unless you are a certified repairman or have a degree in, either, mechanical engineering or computer data retrieval - joking!).

Why do down comforters lose their fluff when you wash them in the washer?
instead of dry cleaning? Why do down comforters lose their fluff when you wash them in the washer?
The feathers are just matted together. You need to put it in the dryer at low heat with a couple of tennis balls. The tennis balls bounce around hitting the blanket causing the matts to break up. Works great! Why do down comforters lose their fluff when you wash them in the washer?
If it is an all down comforter, the down becomes stuck together when moist. When I wash my down comforter, I dry it 3 times. I have found that if I don't, it later gets a ';musty'; odor, and that is because the down was still damp inside and started to mildew.
Dry your comforter several times after washing. Also buy a duvet cover for it so you don't need to wash it as often.Just wash the duvet.
Dry it with tennis SHOES. Balls don't have enought weight to fluff the down.
Washers hate fluff!!!!
The material down is broken down by the rigid wash cycle. This is a good answer isn't it?
If it is true down, it is goose or duck feathers. When you get the comforter wet, it is getting the feathers wet and weighted down.

Are washer/dryers more prone to breaking down?
I heard this somewhere, is it true? Are washer/dryers more prone to breaking down?
A washing machine engineer told me never to get a washer/dryer for that reason, also once you have problems you lose both appliances. Are washer/dryers more prone to breaking down?
They may not be more prone to breaking down, but if one part breaks, you are out both machines. I always buy separate machines to prevent the inconvenience of losing one or the other if they are together.

Why is there fabric softener left in the reservoir of my front-loading washer after the load is done?
It just started about a month ago. Could there be some kind of blockage that is only allowing some of the liquid through? Why is there fabric softener left in the reservoir of my front-loading washer after the load is done?
I quit using mine for the same reason, I would pour hot hot water in the reservoir and try to get it rinsed out but finally gave up and just bought a ';Downy ball';. Then after a while I switched to dryer sheets, just easier.

How long would it take before oil started leaking out of the oil drain from using a fiber washer?
I think copper crush washers can go indefinitely w/o causing a leak but what about fiber crush washers? How many miles do you think a fiber washer for an oil drain plug can go before it breaks and starts leaking oil after an oil change? 10k miles? 20k miles? How long would it take before oil started leaking out of the oil drain from using a fiber washer?
If you torque it right it will never leak. Just snug it up.

That should work.
Yes vinegar is excellent. However you only need a cupful.
put the machine on the hottest cycle with no clothes.Don`t worry there will not be any smell of vinegar.I always put half a cupful in my final rinse and believe me the clothes are much softer than if i used a fabric softener. So try it and see for yourself believe me you will be surprised.
bleach
Run bleach and hot water. It will kill off the icky stuff, and help de-scum the pipes.
stop inserting your filthy pants into said machine
Pretty good previous answers: Yes, vinegar should work; Yes, baking soda should help; Yes, even bleach should have a positive effect. Not all together, of course or you'll have a toxic/explosive combination. You may want to go one step further - find the souce. If you're washing machine is typical, then you can lift the top similarly to the way you open the top on your cooking range. This will give you access to the bits of lint that get caught in the upper splash pan...heck, you might even find a missing sock if you look down along the drum!
try running a load of bleach water, vinegar probably wouldn't hurt either. just remember to do a couple plain water loads before you put your clothes in. don't wanna go around smelling like vinegar and bleach. ewww

Will it ruin it? What will happen? It's 100% poly shell and lining. What if I throw my 'dry clean only' blazer in the washer/dryer?
I've washed dry clean only jackets and blazers in the washer on gentle. Some have been ruined and others come out just fine, a lot depends on the construction and the fiber. In your case, the fact that it is 100% synthetic fiber means that it is not likely to shrink. If the lining is the shiny, thin, satiny type of finish, these often shred mostly due to the spin cycle. That is not to say that you cannot wash it however. If you use the gentle cycle and remove the garment before the spin cycle you can prevent the damage. I often pull the garment wet, lay it out on a thick terry towel and roll squeezing the water out of the garment as I go. I then use the rack installed in my dryer that allows the drum to spin while the garment lays flat and use the air only cycle to dry it. Usually, this takes a very long time and I check the garment often, flipping it so that the back and front dry evenly. What if I throw my 'dry clean only' blazer in the washer/dryer?
Eskie is right, you probably could hand wash it or even gentle cycle wash it, but no dryer. What I've found even with washable jackets is the lining stretches a bit.
Of course cold water. Have you considered the dry cleaning bags you pop into your dryer..........what is it........Dryel??
Go ahead.
You will end up with a nice new blazer for your Barbie.
You might get away with it. I have. OR it might shrink or fall apart. I've had that happen, too.powder foundation

What'a the best way to kill mold under a laundry room hardwood floor, resulting from an overflowed washer?
Make sure when your doing any mold cleanup that you wear a good mask, goggles and gloves.
If it's toxic mold and you do the cleanup without the proper safety measures your putting yourself at risk for very serious health issues, most people do not understand the extreme risk until it's too late when cleaning mold, if it's toxic mold it can cause serious health issues that may not go away for months or years once you come into contact with it.

How much could I get for a really old cast iron washer tub?
It is around 500-1,000 pounds and in good shape meaning it is not chipped too much, but cosmetically it looks terrible. I'm wondering if I should scrap it and how much I would get for the scrap or should I try to sell it to a resale shop because it could look great if someone cared about it. I'm new to yahoo answers and any answers would help. ThanksHow much could I get for a really old cast iron washer tub?
Set it outside with a free sign on it.You might get $10 at a scrap yard. How much could I get for a really old cast iron washer tub?
You could check the antique stores.
Or you could check to see how much metal will bring you at a junk yard. You pull it on the scales and get paid by the pound, if they take cast iron.
It would be easier to go to an antique store.

Why do my silverware and good knives rust in the dish washer?
i wash my dishes in the dish washer but every time i empty it my silver ware and excellent knives that i love have rusty spots all over them and i can't get them off. what causes that and how can i prevent it?Why do my silverware and good knives rust in the dish washer?
to take off the spots of rust take the utensils put them in a medium bowl put whit vinegar and a bit of water over night....
you will see no spots... maybe you will if you do take silver wear polish rub on the utensils and they for sure will go off!
good luck!!!!!! all the best....Why do my silverware and good knives rust in the dish washer?
Silver does not rust. It will tarnish. Dishwasher detergent is very caustic, Silver really should not be washed in a dishwasher, I would hand wash and dry immediately.
As for knives. A good knife should never be washed in a dishwasher. Getting knocked around and banging into other utensils is not going to do it any good. And since it is rusting it is obviously not stainless steel and will rust because the detergent is reactive and they have water on them for a prolonged period.
Either you have very hard water, and the iron in the water is being deposited on your utensils, or the plating is pitted on your silverware and knives, and the metal underneath is rusting.

Is it safe to wash/dry my underwear in the public washer/drier in the dorm in my university?
the temperature of the washer is warm(not adjustable) and the temperature of the drier is medium(again, not adjustable). Sorry I have no idea of what the exact temperature is.
Thanks in advance. Is it safe to wash/dry my underwear in the public washer/drier in the dorm in my university?
You need to use cold water for colors. You can use bleach for your whites or a color safe bleach even. Temperature does not matter that much. You mostly use hot for bleach and cold for colors. Is it safe to wash/dry my underwear in the public washer/drier in the dorm in my university?

Is hand washing really a lot more delicate on clothes than using the delicate cycle on your washer?
If so, do you put fabric softener in the rinse water or the water w/ the soap?Is hand washing really a lot more delicate on clothes than using the delicate cycle on your washer?
The best way to wash delicates is to use Woolite. Follow the instructions on the package. If your machine is in good condition and has a delicates cycle then it will likely do a better job than you would hand washing (and it will save you time!). Make sure you have the proper amount of water and soap because too much or too little will end up ruining your garments. Is hand washing really a lot more delicate on clothes than using the delicate cycle on your washer?
I always hand wash my molded cup bras. The washing machine will tear them up no matter what. I just soak them for a few minutes in either Woolite or cheap shampoo ( it's a terrific grease cutter just make sure there are no conditioners, etc in it ). I rinse them in water to which a I add a few drops of perfume and then hang to air dry. They keep their shape and last longer.
Yes washing by hand is easier on your very good clothes just don't wring them, gently squeeze them out. And I guess you can add fabric softener if you want to but check your label in the items you are washing because sometimes you cant use softener.
Hand washing is not nearly as thorough as machine washing on delicate short cycle.
If you want to hand wash, be sure to rinse very well, and use liquid fabric softener.
Fabric softener ALWAYS goes in the final rinse water.
Yes washing by hand is betteer because with top loader wash machine slowest agitation can start to rip a hole but some material would be okay in wash machine as along as it does not have yard, lace, wool and silk
yes. fill a bucket with warm/cold (whatever the tag says) and add detergent and softener. let sit for 3-4 hours, rinse thouroughly by hand, and line dry
may be delicate however don't think it would be cleaner

How in the world do you ';mistakenly'; put a gallon of washer fluid in your refrigerator?
if you haven't heard, a woman in Arkansas served it to several kids at her home day care business. She said she thought it was fruit juice. How in the world do you ';mistakenly'; put a gallon of washer fluid in your refrigerator?
I can't vouch for ';thinking it was fruit juice';, but I have put the stupidest things in the refrigerator, usually because I was on the phone or otherwise distracted at the time. My husband once found a jug of milk under the sink and a jug of cleaning fluid in the fridge. In my defense, the containers were similarly shaped, so it's easy to mix them up if you're not paying attention.
Also keep in mind that most cleaning liquids these days are pretty brilliantly coloured and do tend to look a lot like some of the less healthy fruit drinks on the market. If it was industrial, it could have been in an unmarked jug for easy refilling. This is why you're supposed to keep cleaning supplies locked away if you have small children who can't read and don't know any better. If you've ever seen Hawaiian Punch, I am continually amazed that people drink such unnatural colours. I would think that the smell would have given it away when she poured it, but I suppose if she was busy she might not notice.
I'm not trying to excuse her, just provide a different scenario. How in the world do you ';mistakenly'; put a gallon of washer fluid in your refrigerator?
It's on par with brushing your teeth with cortisone cream only deadlier. Windshield washer fluid, like other dangerous products should be immediately moved to a locked cabinet. This day care business lost its license and hopefully will not get it back. That's sloppy, careless, irresponsible, and dangerous.
Only one child is still in the hospital. This could have destroyed kidneys and it could have been fatal.
It was probably in an unmarked container, and somebody else probably put it on the counter. I can see how she could mistake it for juice just by looking at it, since a lot of kids' drinks are the same bright blue color. I'm not saying she's not responsible for what happened, but at least she did the responsible thing and voluntarily handed over her license.
You start by being a fat, uneducated drunken dopehead idiot
It would take a moron to do something like that.
No label?
No smell?
Blue juice...well,maybe but she needs to find a better system to separate food from chemicals!
Maybe the kids were swearing. Ever heard about washing mouth out with soap?
people do dumb things all the time , i guess you have never done anything dumb. (sarcasm)
doesn't sound like a mistake, it sounds like the murders using antifreeze
Sme she didn't drink it herself. Natural selection and whatnot...
Yupper... she's a keeper eh..

How can i wash a super soft blanket without getting all the fuzzes all over it and my washer?
i have one of those new super soft blankets and when i washed it it shed like crazy. it had fuzzes all over the washer the dryer and also the blanket. i just wanted to throw it away. can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong? How can i wash a super soft blanket without getting all the fuzzes all over it and my washer?
put it inside a bid pillow case to wash. And hang to dry....How can i wash a super soft blanket without getting all the fuzzes all over it and my washer?
You're not doing anything wrong - it is just made of cheap material. You can wipe out the washer and dryer with a damp cloth, and if it's fuzz, not pills, then you can tape roll the blanket and get the fuzz off.
If it's pills, then you have to pick them off, which will suck and take forever. It's up to you if it's worth it. If the blanket is relatively smooth, you could try a clothes depiller - a hand-held device that works like a man's electric shaver, but with bigger holes. But if the blanket isn't smooth, it will just get stuck in the depiller and it will cut holes in the fabric.
Sorry. Stuff isn't made like it used to be.

I've waited a month for Best Buy to fix my washer. Any suggestions?
I'm talking with them and they say all the right things ';We understand you are frustrated'; and such. They are considering replacing the unit but can still give no date when it will be repaired or replaced. I hear nothing from the company they have hired to perform the service. Anyone have any good tips to get their attention? Do they have a corporate based customer service department? I have BB's protection plan.I've waited a month for Best Buy to fix my washer. Any suggestions?
The Easiest way....First,get the Telephone # to your Local Better Business Bureau
Second,Call the Best Buy where you bought the Washer.Dont talk to the Clerk.Demand(Politely) to speak to the Store Manager. Inform him/her that you would like to resolve this today,or you will notify his/her manager/boss.
If you do not resolve your problem, let the manager know you will be notifing the BBB as soon as you hang up.Remember to keep your cool, but stand your ground.
If the person you do talk to resolves your issue,it would still be prudent to call company Headquarters
and lodge a complaint.

Suggest that you will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. If that doesn't get them moving, file a complaint...

Have you complained to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and attorney general's office yet? That might get their attention. And in the future, never shop at Best Buy.
Call the store and ask for the Manager. Tell him your story. If you still have not results, get on the Internet to, the company and find-out where their home office is. Write them. I did this with Amman. It was surprising how fast I got thing fixed! Or just contact the washer's maker.
same problem with frys electronics,,4 30 07 will be my year and nothing yet,,,good luck
First of all, never buy anything from Best buy! They have that rediculous 15% return policy, and on top of that they have rediculous prices! Tell them you would like your money back or a replacement unit. Also, let them know you will bring your business elsewhere! I like to use that tactic as a consumer.
If you ever buy anything at Circuit City you can atleast Barter with them unlike Best Buy. Complaining to he BBB doesn't help any matters. Now complaining at www.ripoffreport.com can make a small difference. And by the way, Best Buy corporate headquarters is in Richfield, Minnesota. I live a couple miles away sadly!
be patient. they will do there work. if you dont get it in 2 weeks tell them again that you want it done. or you could get angry and scream at them: ';listen get it done now!!'; *wink* dont do that.

Can I still file a claim against Maytag for my Neptune washer?
My Maytag washer won't lock and therefore won't spin. I've found that they've been sued but I think all claims had to be in by Aug. 2005. Any help or ideas in getting this fixed? Can I still file a claim against Maytag for my Neptune washer?
call their customer service and see what they have to say. you cant sue everytime something goes bad. SH--- happensCan I still file a claim against Maytag for my Neptune washer?
I can`t imagine where you`d get by attempting to sue them . If it won`t lock and spin , call them and they`ll fix it . What more do feel you`re entitled to and why ?
If you go ahead and sue them , more than likely the best you can hope for regarding a decision in your favor is that they`ll be told to fix your problem , possibly at no charge to you .
But you`ll have the lawyer`s and court expenses to pay . The only way you might be able to sue them for that is if you phoned them to fix the problem , and they refused , which is highly unlikely .
To get any more out of them , you`d have to PROVE you suffered a physical/monetary loss because of the problem . You`d be required to show doctor and hospital bills etc .
If you haven`t suffered such losses , what do you expect the court to give you ? Damages for psychological stress because you had to use the laundromat ? ................. Not very likely !
In case you didn`t know , Maytag went belly up approximately a year or so ago , and the company was bought out by Whirlpool Corporation. How this might affect legitimate claims I have no idea .
Save yourself time , money and headaches .............. call them to fix the problem and pay for the part and service call if you have to . Believe me , it`s the quickest and cheapest solution in this case .
The lid lock assembly is warranted for one year from date of purchase , so it`s out of warranty anyways , unless there was a recall of the original lid locks due to a defective manufacturing problem .
I spent half a zillion dollars on Neptune washer and dryer too. I'll never buy Maytag again, they have done nothing but give me a run around since I bought them. I have had so many problems with this set I can't even remember them all. They are just way, way ,way overpriced junk and it will ruin their credebility and reputation as a good company. I wish I had some help to offer you but my experiance tells me they just don't care anymore.
We had the same problem. It was a wonderful machine -- when it worked (which wasn't long). When we found out the problem with the door was connected to the computer on the panel, we went to a local appliance store and bought a simple Fridgidaire low flow washing machine which was discounted at the time because new models had already come in, for very little money (considering how much the Neptune cost us). We were so disgusted with the Maytag that we had them take the machine away and do whatever they wanted with it when they delivered the new Fridgidaire front loader.
We love our simple machine. After we got it, and I was still getting usede to the dials -- I messed up and machine locked-up. Called the store. The man told me just to unplug the machine and if it resets itself, problem is solved. I did,. It was.
call their customer service and see what they have to say. you cant sue everytime something goes bad.

Should a contractor be responsible for allotting for the space for the hose and vent for a washer and dryer?
I provided a contractor with the dimensions for my new washer and dryer prior to his constructing my laundry room. He built the laundry room based on the dimensions provided by Whirlpool; however he did not allow room for the hose for the washer and the venting for the dryer. He is now saying that Whirlpool or myself should have included the measurements or a cut out for the hose and vent. Consequently, he wants to cut out spaces for the vent and hose as he built them based on the dimensions provided by Whirlpool and that legally, he does not have to knock down the wall and rebuild. I think as a professional he should have allotted for the hose and vent. At the cost of $35,000 for a remodeling project and an error on his behalf; I feel he should be responsible for tearing down the wall and rebuild. HELP I HAVE ENTERED INTO CONTRACT HELL!Should a contractor be responsible for allotting for the space for the hose and vent for a washer and dryer?
Our opinions are just that. I agree with you that the contractor should have allowed the extra space but I don't think it will matter. You may have to take him to court and let the judge decide.Should a contractor be responsible for allotting for the space for the hose and vent for a washer and dryer?
I have learned to assume nothing, If it is not in the Specifications, blueprints you signed off on I think you are left holding the hose....Sorry
I would say Whirlpool should have included how much room those hoses would need, and as a professional, your contractor should fix the problem (as it says he is) the best way he can. Tearing down a wall is a bit of an extreme solution, but i dont know all the details.powder foundation

Replaced stem valve (including washer) in shower faucet but still leaking?
We've replaced the stem valve in the hot water side of the shower. It works alright until the sink is turned on then water starts running again. Any ideas? Help!Replaced stem valve (including washer) in shower faucet but still leaking?
i agree with answer # 2 you still have one more step to do, that is replacing the seat you will need a seat tool usually comes in 2 sizes and you really can't see what size you need so buy both tools. seat is in the stem housing use a flash lite you will see it its brass will have a octagon shaped hole to insert tool to remove it. now you know 4-sure!!Replaced stem valve (including washer) in shower faucet but still leaking?
Probably go ahead and replace the valve seat. Also, if it is leaking around the stem, the packing my be bad and needs to be replaced.
Just replace the whole faucet. It will save you trouble in the long run.

How do you choose between orifice sizes for a pressure washer turbo nozzle?
Measure the inside and outside diameters. You can also write down the make and model of the pressure washer and take it in to a hardware store or go on-line.
Another way is to take the pressure washer to a small engines repair shop.

How many solar panels would I need to power my washer machine?
My washer is 120 volts 60 gz,9.6 amps. The solar panels I am looking at are:
Sharp ND-208U1 Solar Panels (208 Watt)
List Price $1,479.99
Only $1,049.99
Sharp Solar Panels (208 Watt)
List Price $1,352.99
Only $1,040.99
If I buy that will it be enough to run my washer? How many solar panels would I need to power my washer machine?
Solar panels produce power in proportion to the amount of sun light and inverse proportion to the temperature. To use solar power you will need in addition to the panels a bank of batteries a charge controller and an inverter to convert to 120v. The panel(s) will only be used to recharge the batteries and the batteries connected to the inverter is what is going to run your washing machine. You therefore need to know how long is the machine going to run, how often and how much charging can you expect to get from each panel in order to figure out how many panels you will need and how many batteries. If you do only one load very infrequenly, you will be able to use a smaller battery bank and charge at a lower rate. How many solar panels would I need to power my washer machine?
The solar panels have a 12 volt DC output. You would have to get an inverter and a small battery bank to run the washer.
I will now teach you to fish, rather than feed you fish.
Well, that said--the following formula will answer your question.
watts divided by 115=amps
so-multiply 9.6 X 115=1,104 watts.
1,104 divided by 208=6 panels
associated wiring breakers etc. should bring the cost to around 9 or $10,000 that's plus labor
Can't answer your questions but you can find those panels for $984.50, which is signficant if you are buying more than one. An uneducated guess would be that one panel would be enough to power the clothes washer, but maybe not the clothes dryer. The washer is just a motor and a spinning device.
P(Watts) = I(Amps) x V(Volts)
Power = 9.6 x 120
Power = 1,152 Watts.
Therefore you would require 6 x 208Watt solar panels to power the machine on a clear bright day, many more on a cloudy or dull day.
Sorry to be a little rain cloud!
You need as many as it takes! Global warming is YOUR fault! Al Gore said so! $1,100 for 208 watts? There isn't enough electricity produced from a solar panel to even produce a solar panel. How pathetic. If you've got that kind of $, hire a laundry service.

Does anybody know where I can find spray paint that won't come off in the washer?
I'd like to stencil a shirt without the messy ink and cheap spray paint that will come off in the washer after 3 washes. Something that will last a long time, or permanent would even better.Does anybody know where I can find spray paint that won't come off in the washer?
They do make fabric paint in spray paint form! Check out the fabric paint aisle at Michael's or JoAnn's Fabrics.

hi, to remove from washing machine wipe the area in linseed oil wait a few minutes for the tar to soften then wipe with a clean cloth.
To removed from fabric rub the area with red diesel then wash.
go to an auto parts store, like Pep Boys. they sell a tar remover in a spray bottle and in a regular bottle. It takes some elbow grease, but works.
Simple Green and patience. I had to remove a type of sealing tar, similar to roofing tar, and #6 fuel oil from my Carhartts. I found peeling the heavy tar off and pretreating them with pure Simple Green works. I have also soaked them in a bucket with a 50/50 mix of water and Simple Green to take out really thick stuff. If I soak them, I usually double rinse them to remove all of the soap.powder foundation

I have a leaky bath room faucet that I have replaced the washer and seat and it still leaks.?

Is there an ';o'; ring in the faucet that you can replace? If so try that.
try using the Teflon tape one the threads that stoped my leak
buy a new faucet
why should we answer? cause you won't bother giving a thumbs up or best answer!
Have you tried wrapping the thread with teflon tape?
There is a possibility you are right the seat housing (the part the seat screws into) is cracked.

My husband washed a load of towels and left them in the washer, they soured.?
I have rewashed them twice but they still smell soured. Any suggestions on how to get the smell out? Ive tried febreeze and it didnt help any. THANKS!My husband washed a load of towels and left them in the washer, they soured.?
It may sound odd, but have you tried adding a cup of white vinegar to the load. Vinegar helps to remove odors, so you might give it a try.My husband washed a load of towels and left them in the washer, they soured.?
Wash them again and this time add a cup of ammonia to the load. Rinse twice.
I know how you feel! That is why I won't let my husband wash clothes again. I found that putting twice the amount of laundry soap for the load; and don't use no name brand soap. I use Tide-Downy or Tide-Febreeze. And if that still doesn't work, add 1/2 cup of baking soda or bleach to the next wash.
Some detergents actually boast that they remove such smells. I've had good luck with Era. Go with cheaper tries first. Try the vinegar or baking soda. I'd have more faith in the vinegar because it's a little stronger and attacks a different type of chemical. Except for the energy and water there is little lost if it doesn't work. Then try Era or some similar product. If all else fails, make your husband use those towels for whatever until they quit smelling. There is a chance that they are ruined.
One last thing. Sunlight kills and destroys all sorts of things. Leave them out in the sun. Turn them over. After several days try washing them again.
A new load with a cup of white vinegar will help. Also, you could use a bleach for coloured fabrics that can get any mould out and freshen the laundry.
Wash them again without soap or detergent. Add a cup of vinegar or hydrogen peroxide to the wash cycle.
Did you use bleach and hot water? A couple of towels at a time might help too. Can you hang them outside in the sun to dry? Some sunshine might help. Good luck
Try rewashing them again with detergent, and some clear ammonia. Ammonia removes stains and odor. They used to use it on cloth diapers for that reason.
get a divorce because that's worse than cheating - throw towels in garbage, along with wedding ring.
try rinse with bleach
and wash it detegergent and fabric conditioner
Vinegar is the trick...pile it on and let them soak. Go give your husband a big wet kiss for trying...then start the cleaning cycle (hot) with your regular detergent.
Hey, guys just can't clean like the ladies and that's not sexist - it's a fact.

Wash them in Borax and only Borax. It refreshes your laundry.

What i need to know is the schematic for a trailer. My washer drains, and backs up into my tub. How can i fix?
I would like to plumb my trailer. When my clothes washer drains it backs up into my bathtub. My toilet plugged up and when i plunged it it also backed up into my bathtub. I would like to fix so that will not occur again. What i need to know is the schematic for a trailer. My washer drains, and backs up into my tub. How can i fix?
A partially stopped up drain is to fault. Under the trailer locate the drain pipes, usually 3'; dia for the main trunk lines. You will notice a piece called a clean out plug with a ';U'; shaped curve with a square nut, those are access points for putting in a device called a snake which can be rented or purchased. Move along the main drain line and remove those plugs and using the snake should do the trick.
One other option is a garden hose with a straight nozzle used in gardening that produces a jet stream of water. Put it into those access points and force it into the pipe which in most cases dislodges obstructions. What i need to know is the schematic for a trailer. My washer drains, and backs up into my tub. try using a plumbing snake to unclog your lines first, sometimes Drano type stuff, but chemicals can be dangerous, especially if there are kids around.
It's a diagram of its parts
Oh my goodness, call a plumber. The stoppage appears to be in a collecting line which may not even be IN your trailer. A good plumber will not only locate the problem, but will also get the problem fixed, and will save you money in the long run.

Anyone help me fix my Whirlpool washer to do the spin cycle??
I have a Whirlpool Thin Twin (double stacked) Washer/Dryer. I found a number on it I belive to be the item# LTE6234DQ2. It will go through the wash cycle and the rinse cycle but once it gets to the spin cycle where it spins and drains the water out it just stops. It will agitate and do everything normal on the wash and rinse cycles but nothing for the spin. My boyfriend took it apart and looked at it. He doesn't know anything about fixing them but he thinks it could be this timer deal (part#3948357A).
I'm not sure how old the washer is, it was a hand-me-down from an old neighbor.
Any suggestions?Anyone help me fix my Whirlpool washer to do the spin cycle??
Check the coupler between the transmission and the motor.

I don't think its the timer because it's doing everything else.
It will be worth fixing it, if it is just the coupler.Anyone help me fix my Whirlpool washer to do the spin cycle??
the lid needs to be down for the spin
maybe your lid switch is broken
if it aint the lid switch it may be the coupling
if it aint the coupling it may be a the spin pawl
the spin pawl is located under the main drive gear
INSIDE the transmission, it is an easy fix.
Replace the door switch.

What is the minimum PSI I should look for in a pressure washer when using to strip paint from a wood fence?
I have to go cheap on this so it looks like i'm going to be getting an a electric one. I saw a Black and Decker one that said 1600psi but a review said it normally is about 1250psi and not too good at removing paint. I have seen several Karthers at advertised 1400psi without that review. I also saw a 1500psi but forgot the brand name of it.What is the minimum PSI I should look for in a pressure washer when using to strip paint from a wood fence?
2500 PSI should do it, be extreamly careful not to gouge or cut the wood with the spray. Also you will need to let the wood dry for at least a week , of hot dry weather, so the paint will not peel off later. Do not be disapionted if you can't remove all of the paint, you will need to scrape and sand prior to priming. Good Luck! What is the minimum PSI I should look for in a pressure washer when using to strip paint from a wood fence?
The psi's you mentioned are all electric washers. My experience is that you are wasting your money buying an electric. They just don't have enough power to do much at all except use water and electricity. I put them in the same category as electric weedeaters and electric lawnmowers. Get a gas powered, at least 2200 psi (as has already been said), if you have Real cleaning tasks to do.
25OO no less you may want to look into sand blasting
I'd go with a 2000. The other issue is power. If you rent a 2000 psi gas powered one, it will do the job more quickly and effectively and you will have more control over the result. Buy a low psi, low power electric, it will take you much longer and you won'thave power in the tough spots.

What if I was a dish washer and moved up to a cook and got moved to asst.manager?
What if I was a dish washer and moved up to a cook and got promoted to asst.manager,I had college in nursing, should I be able to get moved up and promoted of president of the company because of my past working experience with the company? Should I get the position and promoted from Asst.manager to president of the company? What if I was a dish washer and moved up to a cook and got moved to asst.manager?
It would surprise me if a dish washer got promoted into food preparation unless he/she had experience with cooking.
You might want to take a look at ';The Peter Principle'; (written by Dr Laurence J.P.R.Hull) who expounds that each person will eventually be promoted into a job they cannot effectively perform. What if I was a dish washer and moved up to a cook and got moved to asst.manager?
I depends on the company and how they approach work. There have been cases like that.

How would you go about finding the surface area of a galvanized washer?
because theres a whole in the middle and it has curved 3D edges, what would be the best way to determine the total surface area? How would you go about finding the surface area of a galvanized washer?
pi*r^2(big circles area) - pi*r^2(little circles area) to find the surface area of one side so just double that, to find the surface area of the 3D edge as you call it its a simple length * width multipliction so you will need to know the width of the washer and its circumference (distance around its edge). How would you go about finding the surface area of a galvanized washer?
First pretend the washer is a solid cylinder of radius r₁ and height h.
lateral area =2πr₁h
top area = base area =πr₁²
total surface area A₁ = 2πr₁h + 2πr₁²
Now pretend the hole is a cylinder of radius r₂ and height h.
lateral area =2πr₂h
top area = base area =πr₂²
You cannot simply subtract the surface area of the hole from the surface area of the solid. The lateral area of the hole is part of the washer.
surface area of washer = A₁ + lateral area of hole - top and base of hole
= 2πr₁h + 2πr₁² + 2πr₂h - 2πr₂²
Okay I have no idea what a galvanized washer is but if you're finding the surface area of a box, this is how i do it:
Length * Width ----%26gt; will give you area of one face
Length * Height-----%26gt; will give you area of another face
Add the two products together and multiply by 2 will give you surface area of 4 sides
Then multiply Width by Height
Multiply by 2
Add it to the previous sum
Now that's the total surface area. I'm not sure what you meant by whole, but if you just made a spelling mistake and meant hole, it doesn't affect the surface area. If there is a 3D hole in the middle it isnt part of the outside
Hope i helped, sorry if i confused you
Didn't really understand anything
use the equation (2 times 3.14 times radius) of the full circle and the small circle subtract small s.a form big s.a to get total s.a, radius is half the length of the big and small circle then times total surface area by the width

How often do I run my cat litter scooper through the dish washer in order to keep it clean and sanitary?
It's getting dirty and gross. I can't keep letting it get this bad.How often do I run my cat litter scooper through the dish washer in order to keep it clean and sanitary?
That sounds totally disgusting. Once cat poop went through the DW, I wouldn't want to put dishes and silver in there that I EAT off of.
Use a scrub brush and bleach and clean it OUTside with a hose. How often do I run my cat litter scooper through the dish washer in order to keep it clean and sanitary?
We clean ours each Sunday when we dump the litter box and bleach it out. We fill the litter box 1/3 full of water, add 1 cap full of bleach, then scrub it all clean and rinse. We don't use that scrub brush for anything else.
You're picking up poop so what does it matter? Why on this green Earth would you want to put it in a dish washer. Especially one that washers the dishes you eat from.
